The classic 4-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. Cover ~43 km over 4 days, camping 3 nights. Day 1: start at KM82 and trek along the Urubamba River, visiting Llactapata ruins. Day 2: the most challenging day – climb to Warmiwañusqa (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 m, the trail’s highest point, then descend and camp. Day 3: cross a second pass, visiting Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca ruins along the original stone-paved trail. Descend through cloud forest to Wiñay Wayna camp. Day 4: pre-dawn hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) to witness sunrise over Machu Picchu, then descend into Machu Picchu for a guided tour. This legendary trek offers a unique combination of amazing mountain scenery, well-preserved Inca ruins en route, and the unforgettable moment of arriving at Machu Picchu on foot.
