Huchuy Qosqo Trek
Overnight trek to the little-known Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo. Day 1: depart Cusco and trek from Tambomachay or Taucca (near Chinchero) over a high pass (~4,200 m) with fantastic views of the Sacred Valley, then descend to the Huchuy Qosqo plateau. Camp near the ruins or stay with a local family. Day 2: tour the Huchuy Qosqo ruins – including an Inca kallanka (great hall), sacred rock, and terraces with superb vistas of the Vilcanota range – and then hike down to the village of Lamay in the Sacred Valley. Transfer back to Cusco. This short trek is moderate and off the tourist path, offering quiet ruins and interaction with local communities.
