Choquequirao Trek
4-day/3-night trekking expedition to Choquequirao, a monumental Inca site larger than Machu Picchu but far more isolated. Day 1: drive to Capuliyoc and trek down into the Apurímac Canyon, then up to Chiquisqa campsite. Day 2: descend to the Apurímac River, then a challenging ascent (~1,500 m up) to reach Choquequirao by late afternoon. Day 3: extensive exploration of Choquequirao (you’ll likely have it nearly to yourself – see plazas, temples, llama terraces) and start return trek. Day 4: hike back to trailhead and return to Cusco. This trek is known for being strenuous (due to steep trails and heat in the canyon) but extremely rewarding for its sweeping views and the chance to see a magnificent Inca city virtually without crowds. It’s often called the ultimate “lost city” trek for adventurers.
