Rainbow Mountain (vinicunca)

Full-day hike to Rainbow Mountain. Depart around 4 AM and drive ~3 hours through Cusco’s south valley to the trailhead (~4,600 m). Hike 3.5 km (approx 1.5–2 hours) up a gradual ascent to Vinicunca (5,036 m) – known as Rainbow Mountain for its natural multi-colored striped slopes. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Red Valley and Ausangate Glacier. After spending time at the summit for photos and rest, hike back down and return to Cusco by early evening. It's a challenging high-altitude trek, but the vividly colored mountain and landscapes make it worthwhile.
